If the Jesus story is true, how come people in his own country didn't believe it?

Even to this day, you can ask them if they believe it and they'll say no.

Do you ever wonder? If the Jesus story is true, how come people in his own country didn't believe it?
No.

They didn't, and don't, believe it because it's ridiculous to anyone who sits and questions it for longer than a split second. If the Jesus story is true, how come people in his own country didn't believe it?
If they did....we would be in a heck alot of trouble. thank God they didnt or He wouldnt have crucified and died for our sins.
No, I don't believe what I read in newspapers about my country either. It's not relevant. True or untrue, people who didn't see something with their own eyes can be skeptical or simply not believe
It all goes back to the first sin, greed( commited by satan). The Jewish Rabbi where treated almost like gods themselves. When Jesus came along preaching the new message( believe in Him ), the Rabbi lost there followers. No more people following them around worshiping the ground they were walking on. So, they had to preach against Him. They knew who Jesus was, they just didn't want every one else to know.

In Jewish law a new Rabbi has to be authinticated by two sources. Jesus passed this authentication process at His baptism. First, John the Baptist proclaimed who He was, then, the Heavens themselves opened up, and God proclaimed,'; This is My Son, in Whom I am well pleased.';
The Jesus story is a hoax.
Because there will always be those whose doubt is stronger than there faith. When you believe you understand!
Matthew 13:54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

Mat 13:55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

Mat 13:56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

Mat 13:57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

Mat 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
because they are screwed up lowlifes
Because they were just like you.
Well, I think perhaps one reason was that people, at least his hometown, already knew who he was. They watched him grow up and when he claimed he was the son of God, it was hard for them to swallow.

Also, according to Jewish law his claims were blasphamy, and not accepted by the elders/scribes, with whom disagreeing with was a bad idea.

At this time the Jews were oppressed by the Romans. They WERE expecting a Messiah, but not one like Jesus. The Messiah they wanted would be more like a King. 'Love your enemies,'; and ,';you will face persecution because of me'; wasn't what they wanted to hear.

Maybe the last reason would be that being a Christian involved shedding some traditional elements of Jewish culture. The letters of Paul reveal many examples of this. Such as contact with Gentiles, eating of diff. meats, the Sabbath, and circumcision.

Thats the best answer i have at the moment. ;/
The Jewish scribes and elders were expecting a Messiah that would save them from their political realities. The Kingdom of God was expected as an event in which they would triumph over their foreign oppressors. ';Loving your enemy'; was not a message that they wanted to hear. Also the Jewish religion was an integral part of the culture. Christianity was seen as a heretical sect of Judaism in it's early days.

There are several references to Christ outside of the Bible - The most famous by Flavius Josephus. Believing something as a fact and believing it as a truth are two separate things.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ';I am the light of the world';. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.';(John 8:12)

the great thing i find of Jesus is that although he knew everywone would neglect him, still he spread the word of God through Jerusalem until the very last day he died on the cross, for us....

why not believe in Jesus and his words? I don't wanna live in darkness anymore, i shall follow Jesus!!
They believe Jesus was a real person...they just don't accept him for what he was, the Messiah.
They don't!!! My dear, wrong.

Christians and Muslims believe it. You didn't know! now you do.

Where do you get that false infos!! let me guess Fox news. correct!
They still don't want to upset Caesar, after all of these years.
'; Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.

12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,

13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.

14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.

15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

16 露 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and *teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

';(Matt 28:11-20)
Ouch! Ouch! Sting me! I'm a Jew.
Jesus already answered this in his time: ';...A prophet has no honor in his own country'; (John 4:44).
Jesus Christ's followers were Jewish.

The earliest Christians were Messianic Jews...Jews who believed Jesus Christ was the Messiah.

Jews stick to their traditions....

but when is the last time you heard of a healing rabbi?

Or a Jewish televangelist?

Their traditions don't seem to equip them.
what jesus story r u talkin about?
