Why the Jews don't acknowledge Jesus as the true heir of David?

I'm not very good at Christianity history and I never understood this. I don't care about whose side is right, I just want to understand the reasons. Why the Jews don't acknowledge Jesus as the true heir of David?
Simply put... The Jews do not believe Jesus was the Messiah. PERIOD!!Why the Jews don't acknowledge Jesus as the true heir of David?
You're asking why people of a different religion believe in a different religion than yours.

It's called a tautology.

Why don't you believe in Zeus? or thousands of other gods?
Jews believe that Jesus didn't fulfill some of the prophesies required for the Messiah.

On of the main ones is Jesus' lineage. The Messiah must be a direct descendant of king David. Jesus, is claimed to be conceived by God, not Joseph, meaning he was not a decedent of Davids.

There are several others, and you can find them on many Jewish sites using your question in Google
In order for a person to truly be the Messiah promised by God, this person must fulfill roughly 300 prophesies that prove who he is. Simply put, the Jews do not believe Jesus fulfilled these prophesies. Messianic Jews (who believe Jesus is Messiah) and gentile Christians DO believe Jesus fulfilled all prophesy.

This is it in a nutshell.

EDIT: ';J.P.,'; you are incorrect. Only ONE genealogy is traced through Jeconiah: Joseph's (which is given in Matthew). This was given in order to prove that Joseph cannot be Jesus' physical father. This is also the reason why the virgin conception follows Matthew's genealogy of Joseph, because this shows God is Jesus' Father. Mary's genealogy (given in Luke) is COMPLETELY separate from Jeconiah.

Because Joseph was from the House of David, but Jesus was not from the house of David. To be from the House of David, he had to be the biological son of Joseph.
Their used to their religion.and don't wish for it to change.

you know how people or.the priests in Jesus time didnt want their people to recognize him or they would be put out of buisness.if the priests recognized him they would have to change .everyone would have to change .no one likes to have to change, to actually accept the spirit of God in them, have Love and faith.its not a part of their religion or their nature to do this, so they reject him.Its a human nature kind of thing.it take guts to change, it takes will power ,it takes a willingness to accept Gods will into the life of one who loves Christ.they simply dont wish to change.they don't have love in their hearts.look at what their doing to their neighbours in Israel.they kill a 1000 people for one or two Jews killed .they take peoples land. bulldoze their homes.shoot their children for throwing rocks.they murder .I hear their torturing children in the jails there, they or not chosen people.if their chosen people of God I don't want to have a thing to do with their God.I go with what Jesus said, to have love for our neighbours %26amp; ourselfs..to have true faith in God and to accept the spirit of God into us to guide us.

May God be with you.
Over time, the Jews got it in their heads that the Christ would set up a physical kingdom on earth just as David %26amp; Solomon had.

Furthermore, when Jesus claimed to be the Christ, he didn't seek the approval of nor cater to the High Priest, Sadducees %26amp; Pharisees (Jewish religious leaders). In fact Jesus criticized them.

Jesus was born in a very humble way and from lowly parents -- not fitting of a king.

After the Jewish leaders convinced the Romans to put Jesus to death and He was hung on the cross, it just solidified their belief that Jesus could not be the Christ because it He had been He would never have allowed the Romans to kill Him.

However, if they had really been searching %26amp; watching for the Christ, they would have recognized the signs. The fulfilled Isaiah prophesies from some 800 years priors were clear.

Jesus continuously taught that he was supposed to die and that he kingdom was not an earthly one, but a heavenly/spiritual one. Jesus explained this to Pilate in John 18 ...

35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done? 36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. 37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

What I find interesting is that there are even Christians today that are looking for Jesus to set up a physical kingdom. Was Jesus not clear in His words to Pilate ... I am a king and my kingdom is not of this world???

So either Jesus was a liar or He is the King over His spiritual kingdom. However, only people that believe the truth understands what Jesus said (end of verse 37).

However, not all of the Jews were unbelieving. The origins of Christianity were from the Jew first then from the Gentiles. After Jesus' death, in Acts chapter 2, thousands of Jews obeyed the Gospel and became Christians.

Hope this helps your understanding. Keep questioning, seeking the truth.

Think about it -- figure it out.
Well given that Joseph was from David's line (supposedly) and Jesus was not Joseph's son, there could be some estate problems there...
Why do people assume that the Messiah the Jewish people look for, and the Messiah they believe in aren't the same?

God doesn't change. But people do. Maybe Christ had to come back earlier to achieve some spiritual purpose. Just as Elijah already returned in the Time of Christ. And will come again as one of the Two Witnesses before the Great Day of The Lord!

The Messiah the Jewish people await ,and the Christ who will return in the Second Coming. Is the one who Will take control of this world, and install a peaceful government for a Time.
Please remember that there are lots of Jews (just like there

are lots of Christians) who don't take the Bible as the

word of God - but only a representation made by men.

Given that, it is possible to live with all of the inconsistancies,

scientific impossibilities etc.
Because Jesus never knew his daddy.
Well for one, they were expecting a conquering King that would re-establish their earthly independent kingdom. Secondly, if the NT is too be believed as accurate and infallible, Jesus is of royal descent but not the royal line, i.e. there would have been many others with a much stronger claim to the throne.

Just to explain a little clearer David's throne passed to Solomon and then to one of Solomon's sons, Jesus does not, according to either Matthew or Luke descend from this royal linage.
The claim that Jesus is descended from David isn't entirely supported, or even somewhat.

It's like those people that claim to be descended from the first people aboard the Mayflower. It can't be verified.
They don't believe he was the son of God. Just an ordenary guy spreading God's word. As for the whole Davids heir thing I have no idea what u are talking about. I was tought that Joseph his Dad was just a ordenary guy not related to any royalty.
because according to the bible, the messiah will rebuild the temple in jerusalem, bring back all the jews to israel, create everlasting world peace, destroy all weapons of war, cure all sickness and disabilities, bring every person in the world to know and believe in G-d, and a whole bunch of other things that jesus clearly did not do.
Because Jesus failed the prophecies required of HaMosiach.

Further, both geneologies shown in the NT pass through Jeconiah (one directly, one through Jeconiah's descendants), and Jeconiah was cursed that his descendants would never be Mosiach, let alone HaMosiach.

One geneology (that supposed to be of Joseph) has no genetic ties to a virgin-birth Jesus. The other passes from David through Nathan, when HaMosiach must be born of a line that passes from David through Solomon.

So, if we hold the geneologies to be true, and even if we grant Joseph's lineage despite the alleged 'virgin birth', Yshua bar-Ysef was genetically and geneologically ineligable of any claim of Mosiach or of HaMosiach.
The Jewish leaders or power brokers didn't. Rejected Moses as well. Martin Luther was rejected by Pope. Most jews of that day did accept Jesus...but the 'Dick Chenys' didn't.
