Jesus said:
This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ. (John 17:3)Who's the Only One True God? IS IT JESUS?
Jehovah GodWho's the Only One True God? IS IT JESUS?
There are two persons being referred to in that scripture - God and Jesus. So we have to take in knowledge of God and of his son Jesus.
Jesus spoke of his God at John 20:17. If Jesus has a god, how can he be god? Gods do not give worship, they receive it.
I don't think there is a God. For those who do think there is a God no one agrees on who this God is. There are many religious books written about God like the bible or Qu'ran. But no one agrees on the interpretations of these books causing division between people. The Christian umbrella is huge with all of it's different sects and Christians saying some sects are not even Christian. Protestant against Catholics. JW's and Mormons. It seems the only true God is the one the believer holds true. I suspect reality tells us they are all false and part of human fantasy.
Christ is God; God is Everything. The difference between Christ and you is that Christ knows that He is God and is Everything.
Jehovah God saw a need on earth so he turned to his son and told him he wanted him to go to earth and ransom mankind. Jesus agreed.
When he was born a human the angels rejoiced.
When he got baptized God was thrilled and approved him.
Then Jesus preached to the world...and gave them knowledge of God, his father in heaven.
That knowledge if accepted and acted upon means eternal life to those obeying God.
Hi, Jn ch 1:1-14 the word was God and became flesh. Rev 1: 8 and 17ff the Alpha/Omega type title applies to the Almighty and to the one who was dead and is alive forever(Jesus Christ). There's lots more evidence Jesus was the creator in a human body. njr@tadaust.org.au
Every religion will say that its god is the only true one. And that's why religions are false and pathetic. No god exists. They were invented by people that needed a sense to their life.
why suggest there must be a god in the first place? also why suggest that the words of a man retold by a second party years after the fact, accurately depicts reality?
Jesus He who has seen me has seen the Father -- Blessings !
Jesus also affirmed His deity to the disciples. ';'If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.' Philip said, 'Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.' Jesus answered: 'Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ';Show us the Father';? Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.''; (John 14:7-11, 20).
When I hear the Trinity idea come up I always think of 1 Corinthians 15:20-28, ';However, now Christ has been raised up from the dead [Jehovah never died Jesus did], the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep [in death]. For since death is through a man, resurrection of the dead is also through a man. [a perfect man not man god] For just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive. But each one in his own rank: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who belong to the Christ during his presence. Next, the end, when he [Jesus] hands over the kingdom to his God and Father [Jehovah], when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power. For he [Jesus] must rule as king until [God][Jehovah] has put all enemies under his feet. As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing. For [God][Jehovah] “subjected all things under his [Jesus] feet.” But when he says that ‘all things have been subjected,’ it is evident that it is with the exception of [Jehovah] the one who subjected all things to him [Jesus]. But when all things will have been subjected to him [Jesus], then the Son himself [Jesus] will also subject himself to the One [Jehovah] who subjected all things to him [Jesus], that [Jehovah] God may be all things to everyone.'; Only two people talked about here not three and the Son Jesus is in subjection to his God and Father Jehovah who is greater over Jesus the Son. The Father Jehovah the Maker and his Son his helper making all things together as a team not one person in three. Three does not fit the rule of what is being said here at ALL!
I hate this ongoing debate of people thinking Jesus' is God Almighty.
Yes, God sent forth His Son Jesus! Why is that so complicated?
Lets go a couple of scriptures up from yours John 17:1
It says ';Jesus spoke these things, and, raising his eyes to heaven, he said: “Father, the hour has come; glorify your son, that your son may glorify you';
Jesus raised his eyes to call himself father and talk to himself?! No, he was talking to His Father in heaven! Maybe if all these false religions didn't take Gods' personal name out of the Bible, it would be EASIER to distinguish God and Jesus, not that it's hard now, the Bible clearly speaks of God giving his only begotten son to mankind, Jesus being the first born of creation.
We all know Jesus died and was resurrected. Who resurrected Jesus when he was dead because how can you resurrect yourself when you're dead?
Read Ecclesiastes 9:5 -
For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten.
The dead are conscious of nothing. So obviously someone resurrected him and this is Almighty God his Father
And people who use the scripture oh well what about those who have seen me (jesus) has seen good too? Nobody can SEE god it says in John 1:18
';No man has seen God at any time';
so when Jesus said people who have seen me (jesus) have seen God, he is referring to Gods QUALITIES his love and kindness, his tender mercies! Just like how we are made IN THE IMAGE of God, We know we're not God but his image! his qualities!
Also if Jesus was God, we know Jesus died and God cant die!
Habakkuk 1:12
Are you not from long ago, O Jehovah? O my God, my Holy One, you do not die.
SEE God cannot die so Jesus can't be God because Jesus died!
READ Matthew in your Bible, any Bible a Holy Bible, clearly shows Jesus relationship with his Father, God.
There is none else but Jesus ! The Lord of the Sabbath Day 7. Three in One. So, Yes He is God like His Father and the Holy Spirit ! Jesus said ';I and my Father is One.
So Jesus said ';Yes.'; Considering that he stood to gain a lot from claiming to be God, I'm not surprised.
Ceiling Cat
... oh wait, the Bible says that? Oh, well then, I guess it must be true...
bloody idget...
no neither jesus or yahweh
Yes
No, Jesus is God's son.
Refer to John 3:16
sure, why not if it makes you feel better
No, Jesus is God's son.
I'm sure you desperately want it to be
No my brother Jesus is a great prophet of god read what you write
';you sent forth, Jesus Christ';
here are numerous accounts in the Bible which deny Jesus’ divinity:
JOHN 1:18 TIMOTHY 6:16 EXODUS 33:20
JOHN 5:30 JOHN 8:50 JOHN 12:49
JOHN 20:17 MATTHEW 28:18 MATTHEW 12:28
LUKE 11: 20 ACTS 2:22 JOHN8:40
a)A Messenger
There are many verses in the New Testament supporting the messenger ship / prophet hood of Jesus. The following are only a few: In Matthew 21:11, the people of his time are recorded as referring to Jesus as a prophet: “And the crowds said, ‘This is the prophet Jesus of Nazareth of Galilee.’ ” In Mark, 6:4, it is stated that Jesus referred to himself as a prophet: “And Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.’ ” In the following verses, Jesus is referred to as having been sent as a messenger is sent. In Matthew 10:40, Jesus was purported to have said: “He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.” In John 17:3, Jesus is also quoted as saying: “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
b) A Man
For example, in Matthew 19:17, Jesus responded to one who addressed him as “O good master”, saying: “Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is God.” If he rejected being called “good”, and stated that only God is truly good, he clearly implies that he is not God.
In John 14:28, Jesus was saying: “The Father is greater than I.” Hence, he left no room for anyone to intelligently claim that he was God.
Even in some of the writings of Paul, Jesus is referred to as a “man”, distinct and different from God. In 1st Timothy, 2:5, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
In the Gospel according to Mark 13:31-32, Jesus is also reported to have denied having knowledge of when the final hour of this world would be, saying: “..but of that day or hour no man knoweth, neither the angels in the heaven nor the Son but the Father.” One of the attributes of God is omniscience, knowledge of all things. Therefore, his denial of knowledge of the Day of Judgment is also a denial of divinity, for one who does not know the time of the final hour cannot possibly be God.
Confutation of the ';Evidence'; for Jesus Divinity:
Another of the evidences used for Jesus’ divinity is the application of the title “Son of God” to Jesus. However, there are numerous places in the Old Testament where this title has been given to others:
-God called Israel (Prophet Jacob) His “son” Exodus 4:22-23, “ .. ‘Thus says the Lord, “Israel is my first-born son';
-God promised to make Prophet David His son in Psalms 89:26-27: “..I will make him my first-born,.”
-Angels are referred to as “sons of God” in The Book of Job 1:6, “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.”
-You can also refer to:
Samuel 8:13-14 Genesis 6: 2-4 Romans 8:14
Luke 3:38 Psalms 2:7 Mat. 5:45
1Chro. 22:10
2Chro. 6:18
Some claim that what is unique in the case of Jesus, is that he is the only begotten Son of God, while the others are merely “sons of God”. However, God is recorded as saying to Prophet David, in Psalms 2:7, “I will tell the decree of the Lord: He said to me, ‘You are my son, today I have begotten you.’ ”
It should also be noted that nowhere in the Gospels does Jesus actually call himself “Son of God”. Instead, he is recorded to have repeatedly called himself “Son of man” (e.g. Luke 9:22) innumerable times.
The expression “son of God” merely meant “Servant of God”; one who, because of his faithful service, was close and dear to God, as a son is to a father. Consequently, the use of the term “son of God” should only be understood from the Semitic symbolic sense of a “servant of God”, and not in the pagan sense of a literal offspring of God.
In the four Gospels, Jesus is recorded as saying: “Blessed are the peace-makers;
they will be called sons of God.”
