I went to a church and i was told that baptism must be done in Jesus' name inorder to be saved is this true?

In Jesus name alone?

If that is the case then they are not Christian, they are oneness, or modalists and they deny the Trinity. Such is a declared heresy within the Christian faith (both with Catholics and Protestants), and should be fled from.

We are to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. We are not to deny the Trinity.I went to a church and i was told that baptism must be done in Jesus' name inorder to be saved is this true?
Well, it's both true and it's not true. The true part, is that people in the New Testament were baptized in Jesus name. The not true part, is that the Trinitarian formula was also used, and the church took on the latter formula as it grew. The fact that a church prefers ';in Jesus name only'; does not mean that they get to make other baptisms void if they use slightly different wording.

';In order to be saved'; takes its meaning from atomistic references to specific verses, and I believe this to be basically looking at theology through a straw, and not seeing a bigger picture. Baptism is closely tied to salvation, but #1, it's not salvation itself, and #2, it's not worthless and just something nice to do for Jesus. It's somewhere in between, but you get to figure that one out.I went to a church and i was told that baptism must be done in Jesus' name inorder to be saved is this true?
Doing baptism or anying ';in Jesus name'; means doing it because of Him, it is not a command to verbally say ';in Jesus name'; everytime you do something.

You should get baptised with the belief that one needs to receive the Spirit (Acts 2:4, 33, 39). the two go hand-in-hand.

Calvary was to enable Pentecost.

Please try a church that understands this.
Ask them for a Bible verse.

There were many who will be saved and were not baptized, (everyone in the Old Testament + the thief on the cross in the NT).

Salvation comes through the grace and mercy of Jesus, not by works.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. ~ Ephesians 2:8-10

Granted we should be baptized because Jesus is our example and He was. He also said go and baptize. It is written...

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. ~ Matthew 28:19-20

Those who are following Christ should be baptized, if someone claims to follow Jesus and does not want to be baptized it just wouldn't make sense. But do you think that at the judgment day God will say ';I'm sorry, I can't let you into heaven because your pastor didn't say ';in Jesus name';. What about all those who received the baptism by John which was before Jesus? So conclusion...

1 - We should be baptized if we claim to follow Jesus and know Him.

2 - Jesus was our example therefore we should be baptized.

3 - Jesus was baptized by John, and I doubt John said ';In Jesus name';, therefore salvation does not come by some magic words, it is by faith in God.

4 - There is nothing wrong with being baptized in Jesus name, I recommend it and so does Matthew 28:19-20 but it does not say you are lost if you don't repeat a certain exact phrase.

5 - Search the scriptures and don't take everyone's word as 100% truth unless the Bible can confirm what they are saying.

No, that isn't true. You must have walked into the ';apostolic pentecostal'; group. They are a cult. They also deny the truth of the Trinity. Their doctrines lead to eternal torment in hell, so, stay far away from them.

The truth is that water baptism is not required for salvation, and you can do it in either the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, or you can do it in the Name of Jesus. Either way is fine and Biblical. :)

Water baptism cannot save, water baptism is not required for salvation, and water baptism cannot be added to Jesus's PERFECT salvation.

Water baptism is only for the ALREADY saved, to celebrate the person's salvation!

The thief on the cross was never water baptised.

Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in Jesus alone to save you! It is impossible to lose or ';leave'; salvation (John 6:39-40, John 10:28, 1 John 5:13).

The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell, is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you will be in heaven, no matter what!

Please pray now: ';Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!'; You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die. :)
No it is not true.

Salvation is a gift from God when one accepts Jesus as his Savior. Baptism is an out word sign that you have accepted Jesus but has nothing to do with your salvation only that you are willing to declare your faith.
No.

If it isn't done in the name of Jesus then it isn't a Christian baptism. That usually follows a decision of a person to follow Christ, in other words that they have chosen to become a Christian.
Some christian denominations believe that, while others do not.
Being baptized doesn't save you.
You must be saved to be baptized in Jesus' name.
